Darwin trip 2009

Just got back from 4 days in sunny Darwin, to be greeted by cold an wet weather once home again, that sucks.

Flew out at 9:40pm on Wednesday night, arrived sometime after 1am on Thursday morning, picked up at the airport by Pat and Lionel, went back to the caravan they were staying at, to wait for the next lot of relatives to fly in. Laura and Ian arrived at around 3am, Lionel picked them up and they too came back to the caravan, it was starting to get a bit cosy in there by this stage with 7 adults trying to have a sleep, before the next lot of relo's arrived. Hadn't heard from the next 3 by 6:30am and getting a tad concerned they were lost somewhere in the wilderness of the N.T, rang them only to be reassured they were on their way, sadly the taxi driver who had possibly just arrived off the boat the day before, had no idea where he was or meant to be headed. With some help of directions(and I call them directions very loosely) they managed to find the park, Lionel drove up to the front gate to pick them up, by now we had 10 adults in a 4 berth caravan, it was definitely cosy. No time for more sleeping, it was time to start transporting us all to the shopping centre around the corner from my parents, so we could assemble and walk down to surprise Mum for breakfast.

I tell you what, it's stressful standing around a shoppping centre at that time of the morning, when you know it's possible she's going to turn up at any stage to get the paper.

Unfortunately our huge surprise was slightly foiled by the fact she saw us all traipsing through the gates, although she was left speechless and shaking when we all walked in the door to wish her a happy 60th Birthday.

The next couple of days we spent relaxing and doing a couple of touristy things, like Crocosaurus Cove, Mindal market and dinner down by the wharf. I didn't get a lot of pics and what I do have are all of family members(which I'll upload shortly)
